Adding fragrance: Start with one test jar before scenting the whole pail. Choose a fragrance oil intended for rinse off body scrubs and check the supplier’s usage guidance and current IFRA Category 9 limit for that exact scent. If both allow 0.5%, try 112.83 g of scrub base + 0.57 g of fragrance oil for one finished 4 oz jar. Weigh the fragrance rather than counting drops, then fold it into the base until evenly mixed. This is a starting point, not a universal fragrance limit.

Adding extra oil: Try the base as is first. If you prefer a softer scoop, test a small amount of cosmetic grade jojoba or sunflower oil in a separate sample. Change one ingredient at a time so you can tell what works. Too much oil can loosen the scrub or leave oil pooling on top.

How to pack your 4 oz jars

1. Stir, don’t whip. Use a clean, dry spatula to gently fold the scrub until the sugar and oils are evenly distributed.

2. Fill by weight. Place a clean, dry jar on your scale, zero it out, and scoop in 4 oz (113.4 g) of finished scrub.

3. Seal and label. Smooth the top, wipe the rim clean, and secure the lid. If you customize the base, test the finished blend for stability before selling and update your ingredient label to reflect everything you added.
